Ink and Other Stories

“Ink and Other Stories” is an art exhibition featuring a collection of ultra-short stories (around 600 words each) paired with accompanying illustrations. The exhibition is hosted at Fana kulturhus during Bergen’s Culture Week and later at Åsane kulturhus. Each story in the collection presents everyday moments—told in a different light. The illustrations are created with

09. Contemplation

There are those who spend hours building a matchstick house only to set it aflame, constructing a pyramid of cards just to knock it down, or arranging dominoes meticulously only to topple them. They might seem irrational or even immoral, but once they commit to something, they will hold on to it until the end.

10. The Yellow Iris

One afternoon coming down from the mountain, I passed by a small lush green pond, where the quiet beauty of a patch of yellow irises moved me deeply. Rain poured not so long before, water droplets clung to long slender leaves and delicately fringed the fragile yellow petals. Defiant vitality of the irises stood out

11. November

11 is a perfect symmetrical number, like a gate standing tall, welcoming. While in contrast, November is often cold, rainy, and dark. On such gloomy rainy days, back home, friends and family members would gather playing cards or chatting. One of my most favorite topics is ghosts and supernatural phenomena. Stories of passed-away relatives appearing

12. The “…”

There’s a legend about the heart of a fox, hidden under mossy green water, guiding flows of rivers and streams. 08. Insects

Long sunny days of summer are when insects multiply. Sitting by a still pond or among tall grass, you can hear their chorals. 06. Notes

1. “Once upon a time, there was a lazy mother living with her young children. Owing to laziness, she rarely cleaned the house, letting trash and empty bottles pile up and overflow from her house to the yard. A neighbor visited, gave her a pot of roses, and asked her to clean up the yard

05. Cats and Dogs

One day, my daughter came down from the mountain, having petted and greeted around fifty dogs along the way. Then she asked me if dogs in Vietnam and Norway speak the same language?” Well, I suppose they do. A dog in Vietnam and a dog from Norway on the street would both bark. Though possibly

04. The Mist

I went hiking on a misty day, everything around was shrouded in a milky white haze. All outlines of the world I know were erased. I felt I could fly. I ambled step by step until the winds blew by revealing patches of lush green grass and mottled stones covered in moss. I paused to

03. The Sea

I’m watching a post-apocalyptic anime series. One thing that frequents my mind is the name of a sacred text: Old Testament of the Dead Sea. How intriguing! In fact, Dead Sea scrolls were found at the ruins of Qumran, which are handwritten copies of the Old Testament dating back two thousand years. Setting aside historical
